ABOUT PROFESSOR ACADEMY

ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced, performance-driven Head of HR to lead our Human Resources function. This is a key leadership role responsible for developing measurable performance standards, managing the employee lifecycle, strengthening HR policies, and ensuring compliant day-to-day HR operations.
We are looking for a professional who actively uses AI tools to enhance HR efficiency, stays current with HR technology, and is serious about career growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performance Management & Appraisal
• Design and implement the organisation's performance appraisal system
• Develop role-specific KPIs, KRAs, and measurable performance standards
• Establish monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and annual performance review processes
• Coordinate probation reviews, confirmations, salary revisions, promotions, and PIPs
• Analyse individual, departmental, and organisational performance trends
• Provide management with performance dashboards and recommendations
• Train managers and employees on appraisal processes, goal-setting, and feedback delivery
Policy & Compliance
• Develop, review, and implement HR policies, SOPs, and employee guidelines
• Ensure compliance with Indian labour laws — PF, ESI, Gratuity, TDS, Shops & Establishments Act
• Maintain statutory registers, records, and compliance documentation
• Conduct periodic HR audits and address identified gaps
HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle
• Manage the complete employee lifecycle — onboarding to exit and full-and-final settlement
• Handle payroll processing, salary computation, deductions, and statutory filings
• Manage attendance, leave, and HRMS data with accuracy
• Drive employee engagement initiatives and address employee relations matters
AI, Technology & Continuous Learning
• Leverage AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, HR-specific AI platforms) to streamline HR workflows
• Use HRMS, ATS, and digital payroll platforms effectively
• Apply HR analytics and dashboards to support evidence-based people decisions
• Actively follow HR trends, attend webinars and certifications, and bring best practices into the organisation
• Demonstrate a growth mindset — take ownership of personal learning and upskilling
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
• Education: MBA in Human Resource Management — Mandatory
• Experience: Minimum 5 years in core HR roles, including Manager or Head-level experience
• Sector: Education or Healthcare — Preferred. Exceptional candidates from any industry welcome.
• Language: Tamil — Mandatory. English proficiency required.
• Location: Madurai — On-site (Tamil Nadu candidates or those willing to relocate preferred)
• AI Proficiency: Practical experience using AI tools in day-to-day HR work — not optional
• Career Orientation: Visible track record of upskilling, certifications, or professional growth
