Job Description
Location: Coimbatore (full-time, in-office)
Compensation: ₹30,000–₹50,000/month
Experience: Open - we hire for taste and precision, not years on a CV
About LocoTrails
We design custom holidays for discerning Indian families across 60+ destinations worldwide. Our clients are accomplished people in their 40s and 50s who have done the obvious trips and now want something considered the right villa in Tuscany, the chef who actually cooks for you in his home, the guide who knows which gallery to skip. We run roughly 30-40 trips a month. Each one is built from scratch.
We've grown almost entirely through word of mouth. That works because every itinerary that leaves our desk has to be defensible in its choices, its sequencing, and down to the last line item in the costing sheet.
About the role
A Travel Consultant at LocoTrails owns the craft of the trip. You take a client brief sometimes a vague one, sometimes painfully specific and translate it into an itinerary that feels inevitable once they read it. That means understanding who the client actually is (not just where they want to go), matching them to experiences they'd never have found themselves, choosing the hotel that fits their temperament rather than the one with the best photos, and working hand-in-glove with our DMCs across the world to make it real.
It's a role for someone who reads a five-star hotel's website and notices that the lobby lighting is wrong for the kind of guest we send. Someone who, when the costing sheet has a ₹2,400 discrepancy, doesn't shrug. Someone who can hold a client's confidence on a call without sounding like a brochure.
What you'll own - Client discovery and persona mapping. Understanding what kind of traveller this family actually is - their pace, their tolerances, their unspoken expectations and translating that into design choices.
Itinerary curation. Deciding the rhythm of the trip, the sequence of cities, the right length in each, and which experiences earn their place.
Hotel and vendor selection. Choosing properties and partners that fit the client, not just the destination. This is taste work. Generic luxury isn't the answer.
DMC coordination. Briefing our destination partners with enough specificity that they design for this client, not a template. Pushing back when their suggestions are lazy.
Proposal writing. Producing proposals that read like they were written for one family, because they were.
Costing. Building and maintaining costing sheets that are precise to the rupee. Margins are flexible by design which is exactly why the arithmetic and the structure cannot be.
What we're looking forTaste. You can articulate why one hotel is right and another, equally rated, is wrong. You have opinions about places, food, design, and pacing and you can defend them.
Obsessive attention to detail. Numbers reconcile. Names are spelled correctly. Flight times are checked twice. Visa requirements are confirmed, not assumed.
Strong written English. Proposals are part of how clients judge us. Your writing should be clean, considered, and free of travel-brochure clichés.
Comfort with HNI/UHNI clients. Or the maturity and curiosity to develop it quickly. You can hold a conversation with a 58-year-old CEO without either deferring or overreaching.
Structured thinking. You build costing sheets that other people can read. You document decisions. You don't leave loose ends.
Genuine curiosity about the world. You read, you travel when you can, you pay attention. You know that Lisbon and Porto are different propositions and you can say why.
What we're not looking forAnyone who treats travel as a transactional product
Tour-package-shop instincts (lowest quote wins, more cities = more value)
People who confuse luxury with taste
Compensation and growth
₹30,000–₹50,000/month base, with meaningful upside for candidates who bring genuine experience designing premium travel. This is a role with real ceiling, the consultants who grow into senior positions at LocoTrails become trusted designers our clients ask for by name.
You'll be working directly alongside the founder on real trips from week one. There is no shadow period or busywork phase. The work starts immediately and so does the learning.
