Role Description The Receptionist at Hotel Madurai Comforts is a full-time, on-site role based in Madurai. The Receptionist is responsible for greeting guests, managing check-in and check-out procedures, answering telephone and in-person inquiries, and providing information about hotel services and local attractions. Daily tasks include handling reservations, maintaining accurate guest records, processing payments, coordinating with housekeeping and other departments, and addressing guest requests or concerns promptly and professionally. The role also involves managing front-desk correspondence, maintaining a tidy reception area, and following hotel policies and security procedures. The Receptionist works closely with the hotel team to ensure a smooth, guest-focused front office operation.
Qualifications
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact courteously and professionally with guests from diverse backgrounds.
Effective verbal and written communication skills in English; additional local language skills are an advantage.
Basic computer proficiency, including use of email, office software, and hotel or reservation systems (training can be provided).
Organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple tasks such as check-ins, inquiries, and coordination with other departments.
Attention to detail and accuracy in recording guest information, handling payments, and maintaining front-desk documentation.
Ability to work on a rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays, as required by hotel operations.
Prior experience in a front office, hospitality, or customer-facing role is preferred but not mandatory.
High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in hospitality or front office management is a plus.
